The colour of the green soap comes from the colour of the olive oil which its the main ingredient and comes from the olives. Olive oil has excellent healing properties that have been known and used since ancient times. The softening and disinfecting properties of olive oil soap are due to its nutrients. This makes it a very good soap, even though it seems old-fashioned to use.

In the village my grandmother grew up, everyone used to make their own green soap from the olive oil they produced. So did my grandmother. She also used green soap to clean. She didn’t have a washing machine, so all the family’s clothes were washed in a basin with mostly green soap. My mother still washes the very delicate clothes with green soap and now I also use it for delicate fabrics. Nowadays, in the supermarket, there are laundry detergents based on green soap for washing baby clothes and delicate fabrics or even for use by people with dermatological problems.

In the past, people would also wash their bodies with green soap and there had no need for a body cream for moisturising purposes. In our days, one of the beauty secrets of many women is green soap which protects the skin from dehydration and dryness.

So here are the reasons why you should become, at least in terms of cleanliness… environmentalists.

1. Highly moisturizing

Green soap cleanses the skin without stripping it of its natural oils, unlike other soaps that make the skin dry. Its natural texture leaves skin pores open, allowing it to sweat while protecting skin cells. The glycerin in green soap helps to keep the skin hydrated by holding water even from the air, while in other soaps it has been removed to be used for other purposes.

2. For all skin types

Green soap is hypoallergenic, apparently due to its natural origin, making it the safest choice for sensitive skin. Olive oil, as an ingredient, is safe even for newborn babies due to its emollient nature. Most types of green soaps contain only natural, human-friendly ingredients, unlike other soaps that contain substances that are often heavy and potentially toxic to the skin. It is also ideal for cleaning baby and baby clothes, due to its completely natural texture.

3. Rich in antioxidants

Olive oil is rich in antioxidants that fight the effects of free radicals, with which the human body is constantly confronted with daily. Vitamins E and A contained in the oil have healing properties, which the body takes advantage of and are extremely beneficial. In addition, olive oil has an anti-inflammatory effect that strengthens the immune system and protects the skin from diseases.

4. Lasts long and has a gentle aroma

Green soap has a mild fragrance, unlike the strong scents of other soaps that often irritate sensitive and non-sensitive skin. The green soap bar is hard and doesn’t produce much soap, so it lasts much longer than other products. In addition, green soap is a good choice for those who are environmentally conscious and do not want to use animal products, as it does not contain animal fat like most commercial soaps.

5. Cleaning

The value of green soap that is not only used for personal hygiene. If you dissolve green soap in water, it is ideal for mopping. It has whitening properties and its combination with a little white vinegar makes it an ideal cleaner for baths and kitchens.

6. Gardening

Finally, it is even used as a pesticide, with the solution of which you can spray the plants to gently protect them from insects and diseases, before even resorting to more drastic solutions.
